I have used Texas AC Specialist for the last 2-3 years. They are very honest and don’t jerk you around with service call fees. I have had them out multiple times for a variety of issues and have been extremely pleased with their service and reliability. Out of 4 times that I had them out, I was only actually charged something twice. They are honest fellas, and made me feel like I was dealing with a family member. I wouldn;t hesitate to use him again!

Just when it got REALLY cold a board in my heat exchanger flamed out. Pete (service guy) came out to troubleshoot and gave me a few service options that would help save me money. It was after hours and would have cost a bit more so I opted to wait until morning. Since he was honest, and didn’t try to push a sale, I asked him when he came back in the morning about an upgrade of the entire AC/Heat system (usually their supposed to try to push that on me, aren’t they?
). We held off on the repair and talked about options.
I told Pete I wanted a more energy efficient system and he started by offering me a 14 seer system, which would have been sufficient AND efficient for my house. Again, he was just being honest and I felt like he wanted to save me money and not gouge me!
Long and short – I asked for the more efficient (16 seer) system and he worked out a good price. I imagine it’s because this time of year is a little slower for AC installs.
Within an hour I had a crew of guys at my house along with Brent – the service manager – who stopped by to introduce himself to me. I like that kind of service! Great crew, Great service (and FAST install).

We will never use another AC service! We went through two other companies that charged everytime they came out and weren’t nearly as professional and help ful as these guys. They come on time, they really don’t charge you for a service call (no gimmicks), and whatever work they do is explained and fair priced. Recently we had Pete come out to take a look at our air handler and he spent the time to explain to me what he was doing, why each part worked the way it did and was able to fix the problem in no time. He was very professional and was even friendly with my two year old who was watching him work.
If you are searching for a quality AC service, go with these guys. They won’t show up in some busted down van with a guy that looks like a hobo. Professional and fair all the way.

We had a problem with our heater. This was our second call to them and both repair men have been awesome. Both explain everything they are doing and professional. We had just bought our house and the first repair man found that their was still a warranty on the a/c unit and it cut the bill to just pay for labor and our second repair for the heater was a stupid mistake on our part and Pete the repair man charged us zero dollars for this repair. There are good people still left in this world. Thank you Pete. We will always use this company for our repairs, but hopefully we are done for awhile, lol.

Wow. TACS tech was here 15 minutes after I called. He inspected the furnace and asked me questions, visited the breaker box, and disconnected what he guessed was a faulty switch. (Said I didn’t need it; the unit is old.) No trouble since — and the heat used to go off nightly — and the best of all… free service call. Friendly, fast, knowledgeable, good businesspeople. You can’t go wrong.

WOW!! These guys are truly awesome, and highly recommend their company and service. The heating unit went out Christmas Eve, and although I tried to troubleshoot it myself, it was beyond my ability to resolve without help. I waited until after the holiday and looked here for who to pick. Their reviews convinced me, and their no hassle free service call policy cinched it. Called to schedule, and they were able to get someone out in a matter of hours. Pete actually called and showed up even before the estimated time window. He was very considerate, and spent the necessary time to adequately troubleshoot and diagnose the problem. It was a simple sensor that wasn’t actually necessary anyway, so he saved us any parts and labor that it would have cost to replace it. Even went so far as to double check the safeguards on the furnace and damper as well. I’m definitely going to have them back out in spring to give our A/C a checkup. I would trust these guys, as they have proven their integrity and honesty.

These guys rock. They are 100% legit. Very curtious, quick, direct, and reasonable. The HVAC guys that installed my new systems spent 10 hours at my house until after 9pm making sure everything was complete and working. Very dedicated and polite.

Before the holiday season began one of our heating units stopped working. We called another company to come out and take a look at the problem. After spendining several hundred dollars on what we thought were new parts the unit worked for maybe a total of 5 days. I had my suspisions with this company but wanted to give a local company our business. My husband and I decided that we did not want to use them again so I searched online and decided to give TACS a call. As all the other reviews have mentioned they were quick to respond to my call and sent Brent out to take a look at our unit. Brent was very knowledge and friendly. He also infomed us that the parts we thought we had purchased just 3 weeks earlier were not new parts.
It feels good to know that there are honest people out there that won’t take you for your money. I would highly recommend calling TACS for any of your HVAC needs.

I received a $630 quote by another company to fix the draft inducer blower on my furnace, and I went online and found that the replacement part is only $115 delivered. I called Texas Air Conditioning Specialists about 2PM and they sent out Eric a little over an hour later. When he pulled apart the existing part to put in the one I ordered online, he found a chunk of something stuck in there – once it was removed, the furnace worked fine. Eric was great to work with AND I was not charged for the visit! $630 compared to FREE is a substantial difference!

Our heater had not been working during these last couple of cold weeks, so we called TACS, and they were very quick to help. They sent over a technician, Pete Peterson, and not only was he a quick and very efficient worker (the house is finally at a comfortable temperature!), but he was extremely friendly and made sure to keep us informed about exactly what was wrong, what needed to be done, and how long it would take. Great Job!

Pete Peterson is awesome!! After our AC/Heater unit froze up this week because of the freeze. We called Texas Air conditioning specialists to come out and help us. My Dad thought it was the capacitator and he had replaced it, but was sold the wrong part. Pete came out and brought the right part, 10 mins later we were warm again. Pete is a really friendly and professional guy! I have already recommended Pete and TX Air Conditioning specialists to friends and family.

- 7/28/2011Best Air Conditioning Company in Austin. Period. I sent an email request for service at 9pm last night when my AC went down. They returned my email within 20 mins stating that they could have someone out the next day at whatever time suited me. I told them 8 am would be great. This morning, Eddie, the Service Technician (AKA “The Man”), promptly showed up, diagnosed the problem and had it fixed before I finished my second cup of coffee. As it was our first call to TACS and there were no parts to replace, the call was free. As the General Manager of a busy restaurant where I spend much of my time dealing with contractors and repairmen, I must say that this was an extraordinary experience. Undoubtedly, I will need future work done on my AC unit because of it’s age. Because of this great experience, I have no doubt which company I will call – Texas Air Conditioning Specialist. These guys are great. Justin has been out three separate times, for three separate issues, and each time he has done excellent work. And he is FAST. They have never once tried to upsell me, and have always tried to keep my costs to a minimum. I have referred many neighbors to TACS, and they have all been happy as well. Customer service has always been great as well.

The company sent a man named Thomas out to my house. He was prompt and polite. He quickly diagnosed my issue and fixed it without a problem. Water, water, everywhere. Who ya gonna call? Texas AC Specialist!
My condensation pump on my AC unit went out. I had water on the floor in my house and my AC wouldn’t run at all. And of course, that had to happen during the hottest week in Austin history in forever. I called at 9:30AM and they could have someone at my house by 11AM! Who does that any more?
Don arrived and immediately assessed the problem. I needed a new pump. The quote wasn’t outrageous, but I’d gotten laid off two days before, so he got the quote lowered for me AND they let me use the 10% off coupon.
When he came back with the pump, we talked while he installed. He was very personable, professional, and courteous. He told me that he really likes working for Texas AC and that they take care of their employees.
I believe a happy employee makes for a much better employee, hence all the great reviews on Yelp. I’m not sure who’s in charge at Texas AC, but great job. Whatever kind of environment you create for your employees flows down to the excellent service they provide.
And kudos to Ashley, who I spoke to on the phone a couple of times. She was so kind and cheerful, and her voice was filled with such sunshine that it helped brighten my spirits in spite of all the crap I’d been hit with this week.
Now my house is cool again, and I’m writing this review on Yelp in the hope that others will call Texas AC and have an experience as good as mine. I don’t think you’ll regret it. (And don’t forget to mention Yelp for the $65 free service call.)

We were very happy with our service.
We live in Round Rock and woke up to AC not working. Called TACS at 6-630 am hoping to get fixed quickly becuase we have twin 7 month olds and record temps outside.
We received a call back by the on call tech with 30 minutes or so and they had someone to the house by 8-830am.
Eddie came over. My husband was very impressed with him – thought he was a good guy. Ended up needing new capacitor. Eddie had fixed and was out the door by 9am and only cost us about $200.
Can’t complain about that kindof service when it’s going to be over 100 again today.
Will defnitely call again if we ever need anything.
We had 5 or 6 companies come out to give an estimate to replace our A/C unit in our condo. Domingo at Texas AC Specialists was great. He was super professional and honest. We had a 2 ton system installed, but after a day or so we found it wasnt properly cooling our room. I was expecting a long drawn out process to fix this problem. Brian had someone out there the next morning to asses the problem. Ray came out and gave some great advice and expertise. Since the unit was still not cooling, Larry came out and really worked hard to solve our problem. He was not afraid to climb up into the super hot attic and investigate. Larry went above and beyond to help make sure we got the highest level of service. We all decided it was best to get a larger 3 ton unit. Again, Brian had a crew out the next day to install our new unit.
Eddie, the guy who installed our unit was extremely professional. He and his crew worked long hours in the hot sun two days to make sure our unit was working properly. He was a nice guy and you could tell he really cared about doing the job right.
Every segment of this organization is top notch. They made an otherwise stressful situation simple. We appreciate you guys! Thanks!

I was very impressed and lucky to find such an excellent company. Our AC “went out with a bang”, literally, and a couple of shakes. Texas weather (102), 4 yr old at home and me only having a couple hrs of sleep was very desperate and ran across this company via google. Read many great review and was excited there was no fee to come out and look at the AC. Very friendly receptionist was able to schedule me w/in the next couple hrs. Service Tech Thomas responded, diagnosed the problem and was very kind to even apologize when telling me what the problem was w/my AC, all w/in 15 min’s. I knew I wasn’t going to be able to afford the cost to fix it, however Thomas never pressured me into using their company and even advised me he’d hold the part for a day if I decided to call them to fix it. Even though I didn’t use Texas AC Specialist for the repair I still feel very grateful to them. It was very reassuring to know what the problem was, and at no charge!

I’m so happy to get to share my experience of the great service from Texas A/C Specialist. Late Thursday night last week, we discovered water dripping from our A/C through the ceiling into our bottom floor. My husband figured out the source and we took temporary measures to deal with it. In the morning, I called our usual service company but they couldn’t come out the same day so I found TAS online. They sent Eddie out the same day.
He was extremely polite and personable. He quickly diagnosed the problem and said it would only take about 10 minutes. Well, he blew out the pipe that drains out the evaporation overflow, plus told me to put a cup of bleach into it every couple of months to prevent the same problem from happening again. He also changed the filters and showed me how to do the same maintenance on the downstairs A/C unit. He also told me about a device we could install that would automatically turn off the A/C if the water got close to overflowing again.
The kicker was that when I asked how much I owed, he told me, “nothing!” I couldn’t believe it and asked him again and he said, “We’re not just about making money. We really like to help people. You could write a review for us.” I told him I would, of course! And here it is.
Thank you, Texas A/C Specialist. You have not only won over a new customer, but I’ve already started telling people about your company.

On time, friendly and explanatory.
I called up Texas Air Conditioning Specialists this morning, a Saturday, not exactly expecting that someone would be able to get out to help me until Monday. Gave a rundown of my situation and to my surprise they were able to work around my schedule the very same day to get out and help me.
The specialist arrived on time, diagnosed the issue extremely quickly, answered all of my silly questions about what he was doing and what was wrong, and was out the door with my AC repaired in less than 20 minutes.
My only regret was that I didn’t get his phone number, he was pretty cute.
I will no doubt be calling TACS for any further AC needs I have.

After waking up to find my AC not pumping cold air out and my compressor unit not coming on, I contacted Texas AC. The person who spoke with was very understanding and promised to dispatch a tech and that he would contact me between a certain 1 hour time frame.
Eddie arrived within the specified time frame and was extremely polite and proceeded to work on the outside unit. He was thorough, answered all of my questions, and took the time to explain to me what he was doing. He even gave me a few hints as to some preventative maintenance that I could do myself.
All in all I am highly satisfied with the service I received and am now very cool (well, temperature wise that is). I would not hesitate to contact Texas AC Specialist again for all of my cooling needs.

It took me years to find a HVAC service I trust… and these guys are the real deal.
I had to have an entire unit replaced last summer. These guys offered a competitive price with unparalleled service. A year later, I did have one minor problem where some of the tape they used melting in the Texas heat, resulting in hot attic air leaking into the ducts. They came out and fixed it free of charge (arriving early and doing the work for free).
The summer before, I had my 2nd AC replaced by a different company. The work they did, along with the service before/during/following, was completely inferior and actually more expensive than Texas AC specialists.
I wish I had found them sooner.

Domingo was my point person and always took my calls and always took the time to explian what was going on. I was amazed that someone was always available to be reached, any hour of the day. Woke up on a Sunday morning to a cold house – no heat. yikes!
After reading the reviews here on Yelp, I called Texas AC Specialist.
I got a call back from a tech within 15 minutes, and he said he would be there in just over an hour.
Brent showed up an hour later. Took a look at my furnace, determined it was a bad ignitor. He had a replacement part in his truck, and within 15 minutes we had heat again. Sweet!
He didn’t charge me additional for a weekend service call. Nice.
All in all – quick, friendly service. Got the job done quickly, and didn’t try to upsell me or charge me for additional services or parts. And on a Sunday even.
This was our first experience with Texas AC, but we’ll be keeping their number in our list of recommended contractors.

It only figures that on one of the four days that Austin dips below freezing, our gas furnace went out. Isn’t that always the way? But wait, it gets better! It goes out right before a weekend, thus ensuring two long days in which we emerged from our heated blankets only for such necessities as brushing our teeth and the like.
We needed heat, toute suite.
First, we called one of the bigger local shops. You know — one of the ones whose vans you see all over the city? They came out, did some poking around on our old unit, and told us pretty unequivocally that we needed an entire new HVAC system which they would be all too happy to sell us for the low, low price of $6,000.00.
After we regained consciousness, we (at the suggestion of my oh-so-level headed girlfriend) called TACS. They’re right up the road, they’re small, they had a great Yelp rating. The technician Brent came out that very day, did his own poking around, and found that our heater’s malady was nothing more than a frayed bit of rubber hose connected to the blower. He trimmed the frayed part off the end, and didn’t even charge us for the call. The heater works just fine!
These guys are life savers.

I love finding honest businesses that are after your business long term not just the service call $$.
Of course when it is 17 degrees out our thermostat went out so we woke up to a 57 degree house – the baby’s diaper has yellow ice cubes in it.
So I called up Tex Air Cond Service and they said they’s make it out between 2-4pm, being pretty busy today.
At 3pm I got a call that Brent was on his way and 3:15 he was at the door. Fortunately the wierd problem with the thermostat went off just as he was looking at it (after working for the previous 3 hours). He took one look, used a little sandpaper on the batter terminal pads and said “I think that will do it, but if it gives you any more problem give me a call.”
I asked home much and he said no charge.
NO CHARGE. Have to love that. I mean sure he was in and out in under 5 minutes, but you have to love him not sticking me with a fee.
Brent and TACS will be getting my business anytime I have an issue in the future.

FANTASTIC SERVICE! We have an older home and A/C unit and have had other local companies come out and not answer our questions, do poor work, and over charge for parts and labor. TACS was the EXACT opposite!
Free service call, identified the blown capacitor, replaced the part and in 5 minutes we were enjoy cool A/C again! The owner, Mark was very helpful and contacted us directly when we called with the problem. The service tech, Brent Ford, was friendly and knowledgeable.

WOW!!
this was service, Brian and Thomas both took the time to make sure we were taken care of. Our home AC unit went out, I made the call and within an hour they were at my home and telling me what exactly was wrong and what it would take to fix it. We were not over charged or told we needed extra work, they fixed what needed fixing and they fixed it right!
These guys are the one’s to call and I will always go to them first.

I’ve had good experience with Texas AC Specialists.
They were quick to respond when our blower motor went out last September and the house temp shot up to 91, keeping their guys there as late as they had to (until about
to get the new one installed that Monday. (It died Saturday night and I called Sunday Morning reaching the owner. He took me through some diagnostic steps, and, upon determining that parts would be needed, set me up for a service call on Monday when the parts suppliers were open).
They are also great with service calls in that they don’t charge for them unless they actually do some work (something I’ve taken advantage of just once and felt bad when it turned out my lines were just rattling against a light box in the attic… three zip ties and problem solved).
Their owner lives nearby in Central Austin, as do several of their techs. They HQ on Shoal Creek between Anderson and Steck.

In Texas, having a good A/C repair company is a must, and these guys are mine. Casa did the warranty work on our two units, as they had the contract with the builder, but I had had just a few too many encounters with those nickle and dimers, so went looking for an alternative. Had them out last year for an annual checkup, and they just left the house after this year’s. Fair, affordable, easy to schedule, personable on the job site, what more do you need?

I called ‘Texas Air Conditioning Specialist’ at 11:30AM today as my AC system was leaking water.. I was given an ETA of someone being available between 12PM – 2PM which immediately impressed me. Your AC tech contacted me by 12:30 and was on site at my home before 1PM. The service ended up costing me nothing because it was simply something that I could fix. Your AC tech was very knowledgeable, professional and courteous. I should also add that whomever answers the phone and schedules the service calls did so very professionally and provides your company an excellent first impression.
From past experience I’ve not been very impressed with other companies that I have worked with regarding my AC service. The phone service is generally not very good and the service techs often seem green and not particularly good at interfacing with customers.
Overall, my experience with your company was outstanding and in the event of any future AC service and sales needs I will definitely be contacting ‘Texas Air Conditioning Specialist’ first.

I would like to commend Texas Air Conditioning Specialist for outstanding work. I called two other AC companies but they said they were too busy to come out and it would have to be the next day. I couldn’t wait for the next day because I have two small children and we needed cool air. I called Texas Air and they came out within one hour and Clint Carnes looked at my old system and said “Sorry to say this unit needs to be replaced in order for you to get the result you are looking for.‡ My husband and I agreed it was time to buy another unit. The same day, Clint had ordered our AC unit and had two technicians at my house by 5:30 pm and they worked until 8:45. Clint and the guys were very knowledgeable. After the work was completed, Clint called our house to make sure the air conditioning was working properly. I would like to say how many companies call to check on you. I won’t hesitate to call again in the future, and I highly recommend this company to my friends.

It got cold, fast. The heat did not turn on. Called (8) heating repair companies. All wanted a minimun trip charge ranging from $49 to $115, some of which may be applied to the actual repair costs, some may not. And it would be 2-3 days until they could get someone out (due to high demand because of the cold). Texas A/C was the last call (sorry, went alphabetically). No trip charge. Tech was out within an hour. In the attic for @ 5 minutes and the heat went on. He said something ate through an outflow hose and it needed to be replaced. He said he would not charge for it since it was a simple fix for him. Glad for the courtesy call. Glad the heat is working. Not so happy about the cause of the problem. I lucked out, but still, I would recommend Texas A/C Specialist

Thomas came out with Texas AC Specialist to give me a quote on a new system. I wanted to take advantage of tax credit. Gave me a price on a Carrier Infinity System(top of the line). I had another company give me a quote on a Trane. But I needed a 5 ton system and Trane does not have a system that makes tax credit requirements in that size. Carrier did. And let me tell you this system is super nice, its quiet and the tstat is awesome. Now the system is pretty expensive. I had duct work and insulation done by them as well. But in the long run i will get my money back and plus my neighors are all jealous. So very happy. Thomas was very informative. He knew the ins and outs of everything from the vent pipe sizing the what size my reuturn grills should be to have the system work at peak performance. Call this company and you will not be dissappointed.
